AQUATIC SERVICES
Many of our clients seeking various federal and state wetland/stream permits, or
monitoring in the establishment of mitigation sites need various aquatic
services to obtain the desired permits and approvals. The services include:
- In-situ water quality
- Fish surveys
- Macroinvertebrate surveys
WEC has substantial experience in conducting stream surveys to assess fish,
mussel, and aquatic macroinvertebrate populations using various EPA and State
Rapid Bioassessment Protocols (RBP). WEC maintains the necessary equipment to
complete these surveys to include nets and backpack electro-fishing units, boats
and personal safety equipment.
Also, our development clients increasingly have become the subject of lawsuits
originating from homeowners associations, private individuals, and local
conservation organizations for alleged sedimentation in streams and lakes
located downstream of development sites. WEC has assisted these clients by
obtaining baseline pre-development data to document existing sediment loads and
turbidity and by monitoring the development site during site grading and
construction, as well as locations upstream and downstream of the development
site. This proactive approach provides developers and grading contractors with
data that can assist them in avoiding potential lawsuits. It also can identify
potential on-site problems that can be corrected quickly before potentially
affecting downstream property owners.
